So sad to hear of Ozzie's passing. His last appearance at Villa Park was a glorious way to say goodbye - the love in that place for him was gigantic. I'm grateful I was able to have a few quiet words with him after the show. And happy to know he passed peacefully with his loving family close by. But the world will miss Ozzie's unique presence and fearless talent. My heartfelt consolations to Sharon and their great family. And to Bill and Geezer and my dear friend Tony - for this is family - I know only too well. REST IN PEACE dear Ozzie. Bri

A nice moment today - celebrating the 40th anniversary of LIVE AID. Go see the musical ! @liveaidmusical - and take your kids ! You might need to pre-explain the "F"word to them if they're very young ! But words are just words, right ? And actions speak louder ... right ? We need a kinder, more forgiving world .... OK ?! GREAT JOB you guys - long may you run at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Bri

💥💥💥💥 PLEASE SWIPE ! The first ever stereoscopic whole-body view of the asteroid Donaldjohanson - made from images captured by the LUCY mission spacecraft as it flew past this hitherto unexplored object. We've been sitting on this since last April - but happy to finally reveal it now. You can see more details on the NASA website - but they published only a cross-eyed version of the stereo. Here you can free-view in parallel mode - or save it and use a LondonStereo OWL viewer to really enjoy it in depth. There's always quite a bit of processing that goes on before you see the output of these missions - to enhance and clean up in various ways. This version has a little extra 'fix' to restore the later image to wholeness. There is a lot to say about all of this. Careful scrutiny reveals,
for instance, a small bright 'flaw' near the centre of this image - it's not an error - but seems to be the result of anomalous albedo variations on the rock when the Sun was almost directly behind the spacecraft. But, as always, complete answers are hard to come by - especially since this brief flyby glimpsing just one side of "DJ" is probably the only chance we'll get in our lifetimes to see this object in any detail. Astronomy is fun !! Bri Thanks to all the LUCY team for having me along on this adventure - and thanks to my colleague Claudia Manzoni @lonely_whispers_ for working on this stereo with me. Bri

While the world seems to be plunging into lunacy - I find it hard to look - a little escapism helps. This is the work of an amateur astrophotographer - just holding my iPhone to the eyepiece of my 10 inch Dobsonian soon after sunset - but I was pleased with it - I will never forget having breakfast with the first man to stand on our very own and only natural satellite - Neil Armstrong, a wise, generous and truly decent human being. I feel the world is crying out now for such people. Meanwhile I give you the Moon. First Quarter. Bri

So sad to hear of the passing of the great Mick Ralphs - a wonderful instinctive player with a massive sound and superb feel, classic songwriter, and originator of many immortal riffs. Respects and love, Mick. RIP. Bri. Photo by Will Ireland / Guitarist Magazine / Future via Getty Images

Hello non-stereoscopists ! Want to know what the Dickens this is all about ? Want to join the deep and three dimensional world of stereoscopy ? To enjoy 3-D all you need is your eyes - and perhaps an OWL stereoscope (available from LondonStereo.co.uk). Once you've been bitten by 3-D images you will never want to go back to flat pictures ! To begin - check out what Denis Pellerin and Rebecca Sharpe have to say at @brianmayarchiveofstereoscopy on Instagram right now. They have been preparing for this day for weeks - hoping to inspire new converts, and amuse old ones ! And for more information please check out www.LondonStereo.com - my old stereoscopy site which has lots of info on how to get started in Stereo. Also see @londonstereoscopiccompany - for news of what the LSC is planning right now. What IS BMAS ? The BrianMay archive of Stereoscopy is now an incorporated charity, which now owns much of my steresocopic image collection - and when I pass on to the next place it will own all of it. My hope in creating this archive is that it will be able to sustain itself after I've gone, keeping intact the greatest (and only !) archive of stereoscopic Photography in Britain. It will be a gift to the Nation. Cheers all - Bri
