Oh my precious baby. Kayla - 2008-2025
I’m at a complete loss for words, it feels like a piece of me was just ripped out.
My dad and I got Kayla when she was just 6 weeks old, I still vividly remember the ride home. You were so small, I remember you started shaking in my arms and getting all warm, I could imagine you were nervous with what was going on. But when we got home I remember my dad telling me “alright buddy set her down and let her get used to her new yard” I put her down and she immediately started stumbling around getting used to the yard. I was still knelt down and after a little while of her exploring she stopped in her place, looked at me and started stumbling my way until she was in my arms, I was so young at the time but I still remember I hugged you so tight. Growing up with you was always something special, from random tug of war bouts cause I was trying to put on my socks, to trying to teach you how to walk on a retractable leash, ahaha long story short but you ended up somehow tripping me and if I remember correctly the handle to the leash ended up smacking me in the face ahaha but I couldn’t help but laugh.
I mean this when I say it but I thank god because you were the absolute best dog a man could ever ask for. You were so smart god you were so smart. You learned every trick in the book before you were even 1 so my dad started teaching her tricks with hand signals. You never stopped amazing me. I remember all we had to whisper was “who’s there” and you would go into defensive mode barking at the door until we said “good girl” and that’s another one of your amazing qualities is you always protected my dad and I. No matter what you would always jump to our rescue. I remember I put myself under a blanket and said “help” she tore that blanket open and once she saw me immediately starting kissing and hugging me to make sure I was okay. Every-time I came home she greeted me with the most love a man could ever ask for, she would jump in my arms and move so frantically ugh I’d give anything to see that again.
I’m thankful for all the memories we’ve made, I love you my precious baby so much, you’re the best girl, I’ll see you again someday❤️
