I want to sincerely thank DR. AdeDolapo Fashawe (Commissioner) of Health Services & Environment in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja for the kind invitation to speak to the brilliant medical students at the Veritas university Abuja. It was truly an honor to share thoughts, ideas, and encouragement with the future healers of our world.

Our conversation centered around the importance of their involvement in politics and national discourse. As medical students, their role goes far beyond the hospital walls…..they are not only trained to save lives but also to shape the society in which those lives exist.

Nigeria needs their voices.
Their intelligence, compassion, and problem-solving skills are deeply needed in the political space…….because decisions made in politics affect healthcare, policies, and the wellbeing of every citizen. It’s time we see more doctors, medical professionals, and health advocates actively involved in shaping the future of our nation.

To every student I met that day,your journey in medicine is powerful, but your role in the larger story of Nigeria is just as critical. Step into the space. Be part of the conversation. Let your voice count.
