a self portrait in venus through a two fold screen

it has been a great honour to be asked to make a piece of work for the #thewildescape project with @artfund to encourage younger generations to connect with animals and nature through art.

i was asked to make a response to a piece of work that was held in museums supporting the cause. i chose diego velázquez rokeby venus and shibata zeshin’s a two fold screen and created a self portrait reflecting on my own womanhood, my desire to carry on my lineage, my courage and the eternal divine order that we are all a part of on this earth through using the archetypes that we connect with the creatures in nature around us.

it is important for me to express that a lot of love and support went into helping me create this in such a storm of inspiration from friends and collective members of @thefkafactory

EUSEXUA has been my practice for the years that it has been in creation. it is my opus and truly feels like a pin at the centre of the core of my artist. EUSEXUA was birthed in chicken scratch, written on the back of my hand in a toilet at a rave in prague, ‘this room of fools WE MAKE SOMETHING TOGETHER’ and we do. we rave, we sweat, we kiss, we make love to the booming thud of culture.

give me the star power and physical strength to get me through these usa shows luteal phase tf boots down, let the crowds continue to roar, the EUSEXUA be ever present and the wigs be installed good with no glue and then snatched with ease to the song that the streets call ‘margarita’ and let it all go just perfectly.
thank you for continuing to bless me and my loved ones especially @jamesvuanh, lord he is testing me

anyone who has followed my journey from the start knows that the creation process in the studio is my happy place. when my beautiful show got violently grounded i wanted to get into bed, cry into my pillow and hide under the covers but something inside me told me fight for what i believe in, art and discovery. so, i took the opportunity to get into the studio with the beautiful EUSEXUA dancers and movement artists and just start creating for the sake of it. the inspiration, craft and talent in the room reminded me of who i am and what i do best. i knew that @miketyus was the perfect person to go on this exploration adventure with and i cannot wait to share with you the work that we created. in the EUSEXUA dance rehearsals mike took some beautiful pictures after our r&d which for me really embody the love and affection that we have developed together. i want to take this moment to say thank you to all of the dancers on EUSEXUA, thank you for the growth and love that we continue to share together. chosen family, we are truly one girl. thank you @miketyus for capturing us so beautifully at this moment of such strength and vulnerability <3

wellll one day i’ll explain to you all the tea that’s lead to this craziness, but right now i am overjoyed and so excited to confirm the following shows. i’ll be spending the next two weeks in rehearsals to create something so beautiful for you all. i cannot wait to be reunited with you. what’s kept me going in this chaotic whirlwind is knowing the love for eusexua stays strong, and the kind support you’ve all shown me. thank you for always believing in me and my creative family. love you all x
