Many people say that Koreans are racist towards Indians or brown-skinned People . But as someone who believes in experiencing things firsthand, I never judge a place or people until I’ve actually been there. During my short journey through South Korea, I met some truly wonderful people — kind, funny, and warm, regardless of the color of my skin. I’m brown, close to black, and yet I was treated with respect and care by those I encountered. But let’s be honest — a few days and a few people are not enough to speak for an entire country. I can’t claim to know how the general population thinks. My experience is just one piece of a much bigger picture. So here’s my message to everyone: Travel. Experience. Reflect. Judge only after you’ve seen and felt it yourself. I recently went all the way to surprise a girl. Many of you might be wondering — who is she? Why did Maheen travel so far just to meet her? Here’s the story. She’s an adventurous traveler — and honestly, the only female traveler I’ve truly admired. I’ve travelled with many women, but she’s the one who stood out. Her spirit, her experience, and her passion for exploring the world felt equal to, or even beyond, my own. Meeting someone who shares that same fire for adventure was something special. We’ve known each other for years through Instagram, connected by our shared passion for travel. I was the first to come across her profile by chance and felt an instant urge to become her friend. Eventually, when she visited India, we travelled together for a while, and she even spent time with my family in Kerala. That visit brought us incredibly close. Since then, our bond has only grown stronger. The only reason I travelled to Korea was to surprise her — I knew it would mean the world to her. She truly deserved this visit, and I knew how happy she would be to see me and spend time together again.
