A lot of these were in stories but I thought I’d put them here too because this trip to NY has been so much fun- I’m grateful for the chance to get to see so many friends - but I’m also aware that I missed out on seeing so many other people I’d like to have caught up with- I need to spend more time here in NYC! In case you wondered, Iain still loves theatre and theatre people!

In these urgent times, we must not let the creative legacy of this country be diminished. Our voices, our stories, our art are what make America strong, resilient, and proud. Support @neaarts!

Thank you, @thecreativecoalition ! It was an honor to be allowed to advocate for the arts and the funding of the NEA with you. I love joining your other passionate advocates for the arts. We were invited into the offices of Congressional reps on both sides of the aisle and we got to explain why we believe that arts funding is vital in every congressional district. There are plenty of emotional arguments for the value of arts, but there’s also the basic bottom line: every dollar spent on arts generates nine times that amount in return. Thank you to the staffers representing Michigan, New York, Utah and Texas for taking the time to listen to our stories and opinions.

I am heartbroken to share with you that my extraordinary grandfather died on Sunday. He was my hero and I adored him. Richard L Armitage April 26, 1945-April 13, 2025.
I don’t even know how to begin to tell you about my grandfather, but one of his most significant achievements was helping to save the lives of over 30,000 people when evacuating South Vietnam in 1973. He was the father of 8 and the grandfather of 12. He loved basketball, USNA, and was also, somewhat unexpectedly, a Swiftie. I think he knew everything. I am endlessly proud to be his grandson, and I’m glad he knew it. I already miss your terrible jokes and I will miss and love you forever, Dad A.
