Dreaming of what America could be today as so many of us are feeling melancholic (at best) at the idea of fireworks going off tonight… We, the PEOPLE, are what makes this place so special. It truly takes ALL KINDS. The first phrase of the U.S. Constitution, says that our government’s power originates from its citizens. It emphasizes that the government exists to serve the people and is not based on monarchy or the authority of the states. We are in the midst of a tumultuous reality where things we thought we knew are being flipped on their heads every day. Sending out a giant hug to anyone here feeling unrepresented, unseen, unsafe under the direction this country is heading in. You are not alone. Music is one of the best ways I know to soothe myself and also feel a part of something pure and unifying. May we lean on each other and love more in these unprecedented times. Love you madly, Jo.

🪞 Porcelain 🪞 These lyrics will forever make me feel like I’m flying, crying, being born again. I wrote this one for anyone who’s ever reached a breaking point- where they know deep down something HAS to change in order to not just survive but thrive- only to take those “broken” pieces and build themselves into someone stronger than they ever were before. The path is not linear. There are so many weird twists and unexpected turns. Life is blindingly beautiful and shockingly painful. But we get to decide how we get up and try again, how we frame our life and the stories we tell other’s about it. This is one of my favorite songs to perform now. I get to see the looks on people’s faces. The one’s who have BEEN THERE. Maybe they’re IN THE THICK OF IT right now. The shedding of old beliefs that feel much too shitty to keep holding onto. The unlearning and reprogramming. I’m in it too!!!!! This song is lowkey a battle cry - and I love when we get to sing it together. There’s so much division and intolerance and hatred and fear in the world and forces that benefit from our confusion, not loving and helping one another, not loving and helping ourselves. FUCK THAT. We NEVER know what someone else is going through. How a genuine smile could shift the entire trajectory of their day in an instant. Simple gestures and connection points can really be life changing for those who are in the midst of struggle, loss, grief, etc. If you are reading this, let’s celebrate the gift of being alive and having another chance (day) to exercise our right to radically love ourselves and those around us. - Jo 📸: @cececileee
