When I was 11 years old I was told that I would never work as an actor with the last name “Kaneshiro”, so I wrote some random names on a napkin and chose my new last name “Bryant”. I have regretted that decision since I didn’t understand at such a young age that I was erasing a huge part of my identity. But I think there is no better time to reintroduce myself than now. My name is Kaylee Kaneshiro (pronounced kah-neh-she-row) and I love my real name.

I never thought I would have to make this post. To those who knew Kate, you know how special she was. She could talk to anyone - if you had the privilege of ever sitting next to her in public then you know. She was a fighter for everything and everyone she knew (sometimes even the people she didn’t know) and, to me, she was everything. She was my manager for over a decade (and stylist, realtor, coach, dog whisperer, etc), but most of all she was a second mother, a sister, a friend, and everything in between. I feel very lucky to have been loved by her and to have been able to love her. Kate, I hope you are at peace on a beautiful beach drinking something incredible.
