“What drives me as an actor is…I don’t know how to say this…but it gives me some kind of pleasure when I’m feeling those emotions which are not mine at that particular time. In front of the camera, I’m doing something which is not mine. It gives me a different high. You feel special because you are doing something that is completely out of context in terms of your personality, your mood, your day. And still you try to make it believable. You know, this gives me goosebumps sometimes.”

@jaideepahlawat first caught the cinema-watching public’s attention as Shahid Khan, the gangster-patriarch in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1’. The movie changed his career — its success paved the path to projects that harnessed the full range of his talent. But the multifaceted actor surprisingly confesses to self-doubt when he’s offered an unconventional role and entirely attributes understanding the characters’ nuances to his multiple readings of the scripts.
