"I want to tell you 'bout Texas radio and the big beat”

“The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)” is a spoken-word-driven track from L.A.WOMAN, blending Jim Morrison’s poetry with a bluesy, hard-edged groove. Originally a standalone poem, it was later set to music, creating a hypnotic mix of rhythm and lyrical mysticism.

Watch the band perform it live at the link in bio.

Only The Doors could turn a German-language opera into a rock hit.

“Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)” started as part of a 1930 opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, but The Doors reimagined it with eerie keys, a marxophone, and Jim’s vocals - putting their own surreal spin on a cabaret classic.

On this day in 1968, The Doors took the stage for their most iconic performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

The 15 song setlist was filmed by Paul Ferrara and his camera crew, and recorded by Bruce Botnick to create the legendary album and videos we still love today.

Remembering Jim today.

His words challenged the ordinary. His voice carried generations. His spirit was wild, restless, and unforgettable. Jim didn’t just front a band - he sparked a movement.

“I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps "Oh look at that!" Then- whoosh, and I'm gone...and they'll never see anything like it ever again... and they won't be able to forget me- ever.” -Jim Morrison
