I feel everything inside me exploded when I was just told that IPL has finally become the most valuable sports brand globally. I always knew it would. But never imagined that it will be in such a short time span. In my heart I always had a feeling that it would. But that was a feeling – and one would say I am biased as I created it. It was natural for me to claim that it is the best sports product. Each one claims his is the best film or the best book. That’s how creators are, and I am no different. But when the world at large acknowledges it – it’s like a second dream coming true. Creating the IPL itself was a dream that came true. That dream was cemented into the cricketing eco-system by season 3. Now, once again that it has gone on to be globally the most valuable brand is like a second homecoming and a second dream coming true. One-in-a-million realise their dream. Maybe two-in-a-billion realise it twice in their lifetime. I must take this opportunity to thank the one constituency that has made this possible. The fans of IPL. They alone have propelled IPL to this position. They alone deserve the credit. It makes India a proud nation, Jai Hind. May it soar higher and make every Indian proud.

This sprawling 40-acre campus, built with an investment of nearly ₹500 crore, is entirely funded by the BCCI. It marks a significant upgrade from the former National Cricket Academy’s limited facilities at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, positioning itself as a world-leading institution for cricket development. The facility’s core is its vast and diverse array of playing surfaces, designed to prepare cricketers for any condition globally. It features three full-sized grounds and a total of 86 pitches. These include 45 outdoor net pitches with surfaces ranging from Mumbai red soil and Kalahandi black cotton soil to concrete. The eight indoor pitches are laid with premium English and Australian turfs, ensuring that training can continue year-round, supplemented by integrated cameras for detailed performance analysis. Beyond the pitches, the Centre is equipped with a 16,000-square-foot Sports Science & Medicine block. This state-of-the-art building includes a physiotherapy rehabilitation gym, a sports science lab, and extensive recovery facilities like an underwater therapy pool, jacuzzis, and saunas. This focus on holistic development ensures athletes receive comprehensive support for physical fitness, injury management, and mental conditioning, attracting top Indian players like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah for their training and rehabilitation. Under the leadership of VVS Laxman, the Centre of Excellence aims to provide a pathway for talent from junior to senior levels, ensuring India’s pipeline of world-class cricketers remains robust. The vision extends beyond cricket, with plans to make its advanced facilities accessible to India’s Olympic athletes, contributing to the broader national sports ecosystem.
