All things Education 💛

It's been an action-packed few weeks for our Education and Community team with projects across London and the South Coast. Here are some highlights ✨

🎻 Our Junior Artists enjoyed their final mentoring sessions of the year and made some great music together.

🥁 We had so much fun delivering our Music Makers creative workshops in London and Eastbourne primary schools.

🎵 We had a week of OrchLab workshops, creating new music using accessible instruments and our voices at Bramley Hill and Brookside House with @drakemusicorg and @johnwebb585_music.

🌊 Down on the South Coast, we worked with Carousel Chorus at Wakehurst Gardens, played at Beachy Head as part of a wellbeing initiative, and performed alongside @soundcastleteam musicians and alumni from our Future Firsts programme at Sussex Recovery College graduation.

👏 Huge thanks to all the amazing partners, musicians, and participants we’ve worked with so far this summer!

An Alpine Symphony 🏔️😍

Painting a picture of the Bavarian Alps calls for beautiful melodies and a supersized orchestra. Playing Richard Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony was a highlight of last season at the @southbankcentre. This moment gives us goosebumps!

Cello there! 👋

We’re excited to officially welcome Henry Shapard and Leo Melvin to the LPO family 🎻

Henry joins us as Co-Principal Cello from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, where he was appointed Principal Cellist at the age of just 21.

Leo, a familiar face to our audiences, has performed with the LPO – and many other London orchestras – over the past few years. We’re absolutely delighted he’s now a full-time member of the section!
