Once upon a time, a broke backpacker with a lot of dreams landed in Bali. One of those dreams was the @lost.villa

When I arrived in Bali in 2015, I immediately fell in love with this island. It felt like everything I ever wanted from a home. It was sunny, tropical, adventurous, had amazing people who actually LIVED but also had a mission in life. And it was wildly affordable compared to life in Vancouver.

But my time on the island was limited. I had a corporate job to fly home to in Canada and after several months of travel, I could barely even afford my flight back. As my plane landed on my cold and rainy side of the planet, I dreamed someday I would be back to that tropical paradise of Bali.

Fortunately, I would soon discover the power of a dream.

2016 - I quit my job and chased my dream to make a living online

2017 - I started making money and moved to the place that made me happiest! I rented my first villa in Bali

2019 - I bought my first ever home (of course in Bali)

Fast forward a few years, risks, decisions, failures and successes later… well that chapter has yet to be written.

“Next week will be the one.”
“Next year will be the year.”
“I will make it happen someday.”
“I wish I had had time.”

When you make excuses long enough, your dreams and ambitions become nothing more than a wasted wish. The problem is, life is far too short to push our dreams to tomorrow but it’s more than long enough to be filled with regret if we don’t take action.

Picking up that camera for the first time was HARD. I was terrified of what others would think and so I almost told myself, maybe next year. I had little to no money so I almost told myself, maybe when I’m more stable. I had 110 reasons why tomorrow felt like a safer decision. If I had waited, I would not be here today. I would have NEVER made that first video, posted that first photo, launched that first product and I would have never built my dream life.

Money, time, and everything else in between are not reasons to delay your dreams - they are excuses.

If your dream is to make a living with a camera, I know every reason you feel “tomorrow” is better because my mind told me the same thing 1000 times.

Parents, friends, and even yourself will tell you why you should not and why you cannot but ask yourself this, do these people live a life you wish to live yourself?

If you live trying to conform to others, you will end up like everyone else. If you’re tired of compromising, stop saying tomorrow and start saying TODAY.

There has never been a better time to pick up that camera and learn a skill that allows you to earn money remotely. There has never been a bigger audience just waiting to hear your story. And there has never been an easier time to embark on this journey with thousands of like-minded DOers.

Today is the day to take action so that tomorrow is one you’re proud of

I trained with @thezensamurai in the remote island of Tsushima Japan. I thought my samurai training would begin with the sword but sensei taught me that the greatest strength starts from a place of silence in the mind.

This was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in my travels.

It’s time to write your own life’s story.

Success stories are boring.
So I want to share a story with uncertain outcomes.

45 days ago, 2 strangers and I decided, we were going to try and build something we believed could help millions of people and… we would do it all in 90 days.

This was nothing more than a wild caffeine fueled idea being thrown around in a Bali coffee shop.

But today, it’s real.

Don’t get me wrong - the product still has a LONG way to go.
The design is.. ok.
The function.. needs work.

But if there is one law that has ruled my life it’s Parkinson’s Law.

Parkinson’s states that, the amount of time you give something is the amount of time it takes.

Well… we have less than 45 days to finish this mobile shooting accessory. From an aluminum stand, to a custom fitted LCD screen, we have a lot to do and while the heat is turned up, we’re ready to cook🔥

If doing things that others laugh at gets you excited - we will get along.

I booked a one-way ticket for one. No crew. No plan. Just me, and my @insta360 X5.

From Bali to Hong Kong, I set off to rediscover what solo travel feels like and it brought my senses back to life.

With my X5 filming in 360, I never had to choose between being in the moment and capturing it.

Even solo, I could film from any angle, anytime - no compromise. This camera is small but it’s one of the most powerful storytelling tools out there.
