This year marks what would have been the 90th birthday of one of the most iconic voices in music history—Luciano Pavarotti. To honour this milestone, Decca Records is spearheading Pavarotti 90, a worldwide tribute celebrating the tenor’s unmatched contribution to classical music, his international appeal, and his legacy of bringing opera to the masses.

In July 1955, aged 19, Luciano Pavarotti journeyed to Wales to compete with his father in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. They won the male voice competition by some margin. Later in life Pavarotti would attribute this as a pivotal moment, one that would inspire him to consider the possibility of becoming a professional singer. Forty years later, in 1995, fulfilling a promise made to himself and many others throughout an extraordinary career, he returned to give a special concert in the Pavilion during Eisteddfod week.

We are delighted to announce that the recording of this previously unreleased historic concert will be available for the first time on 21st November, and the first track from the album is out now.
