Teen talk season 2 invited me to present the keynote speech at home🇮🇹. The topic was navigating emotions and my speech was about Authenticity and self confidence. Imagine telling a bunch of teenagers that I’m not always the most confident person in the room, what a lol😂

I’d been so burdened by everything that’s been happening to children and carried the guilt of not knowing how to fight back.Forgetting to ask God what my place is in all of this is.

One of my key points was Faith, “Seeking God and his righteousness then all his things will be added onto you.” So I moved everyone from our fancy tables and made us sit on the floor with no shoes on to just be in-tune with each-other. We ate, we danced and we were all in awe of each other.

Then it hit me. There are many departments in a war!! There are fighters,protecters, informers and strategists( etc) all used to defeat injustice. Then there’s little old us, who are the “Kumbayaists” the teachers, the ones that need healing by healing.

I told them to have faith, to always go where they are loved and to be in-tune with themselves. I left there feeling like damn, they were in awe of me? No!! I wish they knew how much I needed them. And That’s love! 😭🥹❤️

I was honoured to be apart of the panel discussing youth volunteering for empowerment, innovation and entrepreneurship hosted by @unv.esaro in celebration of youth month.

Here’s some of the stuff I learned.

1. Give yourself a chance so that society can take a chance on you too.
2. We need to allow a little bit ego to get some attention or to share something important but once you win carry that win with humility
3. Be curious about the world around you. Opportunities are everywhere, reach out, learn, listen and volunteer where you can. Whether formal or informal you can make a difference.

This handsome young man, fetched me from the car and gave me the fattest hug in the world. It was truly love at first sight. We sat together through the speeches, prayers and even lunch, like two peas in a pot. I sometimes battle with loneliness but it’s moments like these that bring me comfort when we are away or separated from the people we love. Moments where we can breathe or rather where we are seen. It was Mandela day where we are meant to serve or do things with kindness but on this day the pure intention of this bambino’s heart filled my little tired cup. It’s unfortunate that we have to separate and soldier on in our respective lives but at least we were able to chat abit for a moment.
