Over the past decade, romantic songs have become rare, sparking a conversation among QB, Mohsin Mujtaba, Talha Ghfoor, and me. Mohsin shared Parveen Shakir’s poem “Bas Itna Yaad Hai,” which inspired us to explore more of her work. We selected two more poems—“Saath” and “Sirf Ek Larki”—both romantic, with the latter also carrying a feminist theme.

These three poems formed the foundation for my Trilogy of Romance compositions. QB’s heartfelt renditions brought them to life. Thanks to global collaboration, we worked with musicians from Moscow, Canada, and Pakistan, including my son Hasan Mahmud and the AM Choir. The recording took place at SMB Studios in Karachi, with final mixing by Francis Gorini in London.

As passionately directed by Amaan Ahmed, he convinced me to introduce each piece on screen, using excerpts from Shakir’s poetry. This project is a true international collaboration, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Trilogy of romance.
OUT NOW!

Over the past decade, the music produced in our country has included very few romantic songs—a topic that sparked an engaging discussion among us: QB, Mohsin Mujtaba, Talha Ghfoor, and myself. As we reflected on this shift, Mohsin introduced us to a short yet evocative poem by Parveen Shakir titled "Bas Itna Yaad Hai." Inspired by its depth, we decided to explore more of her work and selected two additional poems—"Saath" and "Sirf Ek Larki." While both were rich in romantic themes, the latter also carried a distinct feminist undertone.

With these three pieces in mind, I set out to compose music for each separately, yet envisioned them as a cohesive unit, ultimately bringing them together under the title "Trilogy of Romance."

QB brought the three melodies to life with deep emotion and heartfelt expression, making each composition truly resonate. Thanks to the marvels of modern technology and global connectivity and Talha Ghafoor, we were able to collaborate with exceptional musicians from different parts of the world. The guitar tracks were performed by Sergei Arzumanov in Moscow, while the drums were played by Jordon McQueen in Canada. The rest of the instrumentalists were based in Pakistan, including my son, Hasan Mahmud, along with members of the AM Choir.

The recording process took place at SMB Studios in Karachi, capturing the essence of the performances in a professional setting. However, to ensure a polished and refined final sound, the mixing was handled by Francis Gorini in London.

From every perspective, this project is a true international collaboration, blending talent and expertise from across the globe to create something truly special.

It is our sincere hope that you enjoy this project as much as our entire team has enjoyed bringing it to life.
