Robert Plant’s ‘Saving Grace,’ his first album with a new collective of distinguished players, is due September 26 on @NonesuchRecords. The album’s genesis was during lockdown, when RP’s customary wandering was all but forbidden. It was in the English countryside that he connected closely to this diverse group of musicians—@suzi.dian, @olijeffersondrums, Tony Kelsey, @matt_worley_musician79, @duotonecellist. Produced by RP and the band and recorded over six years in the Cotswolds and on the Welsh Borders, ‘Saving Grace’ features songs by Memphis Minnie, Bob Mosley (Moby Grape), Blind Willie Johnson, The Low Anthem, Martha Scanlan, Sarah Siskind, and Low. #RobertPlant #SavingGrace

📸 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀] 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 « 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 » Après une carrière que peu de stars du rock et de la pop peuvent revendiquer, muni de sa signature vocale indélébile, Robert Plant aurait pu se reposer dans son hamac, les doigts de pieds en éventail, en lisant les emails de ses innombrables fans. Mais non : la voix est encore bien là -comme sa chevelure abondante- et l’envie de musique ne l’a pas quitté. Saving Grace est plus qu’un groupe. C’est une réduction d’humanité bienveillante, menée par des musiciens qui n’ont rien à prouver, pas même leur capacité à émouvoir qu’ils ont tous chevillée à leur voix et à leurs instruments. Guitares en tous genres et tonalités, banjos, mandolines, accordéon, percussions... dressent un panthéon sonore à la gloire des belles mélodies, servies par un Robert Plant aussi généreux qu’émouvant et une Suzi Dian au diapason, parfaite dans la justesse et dans l’expression.
