NATIONAL PENSION SCHEME (NPS)

Here’s a more detailed look at the advantages:
1. Tax Benefits:
* Employee Contributions: Employee contributions to NPS are eligible for tax deductions under Section 80CCD(1) of the Income Tax Act, up to 10% of salary (Basic + DA), within the overall limit of ₹1.50 lakh under Section 80C.  
* Additional Tax Benefit: You can claim an additional tax deduction of up to ₹50,000 under Section 80CCD(1B) for contributions to NPS Tier I, which is over and above the ₹1.50 lakh limit under Section 80C.

* Annuity Purchase: Investments made in annuities (regular income stream) are also eligible for tax benefits upon retirement.   2. Flexibility and Control:
* Investment Options: NPS offers different asset classes (equity, corporate debt, government securities) and allows you to choose your preferred investment mix based on your risk appetite.   * Pension Fund Managers: You can select from various pension fund managers (PFMs) to manage your investments.   * Contribution Flexibility: You can contribute as per your financial situation and change the amount and frequency of your contributions.   * Portability: NPS is portable across jobs, sectors, and locations, allowing you to maintain the same account even when you change employers.
