“My Friend, Weezer” is a forthcoming book by longtime Weezer photographer Sean Murphy @murphyphoto , that is a true labor of love, collecting decades of classic and never before seen images of the band, along with Sean’s personal recollections and behind the scenes stories. But that’s not all!

Sean asked Brian Bell’s super talented sister Leia Bell @goprintgo , who has been making hand silk screened concert posters for years, to create spot illustrations throughout the book, which adds to its very personal vibes. And he asked Karl Koch @karlophone, who has been working with the band for over 30 years, to both write the book’s foreword and to go back to his roots and design a special flyer in the spirit of the early days of the band. Karl carefully re-created his original 1992 Weezer logo, which Sean used in the cover design, and made a flyer design for the book that thanks Sean for his years of amazing work with the band. In addition, a number of Karls’ behind the scenes photos are used throughout the book, helping tell Sean’s stories of how these shoots went down.

All in all, this is a book that any fan of weezer will want to have on hand!

Last weekend saw a double dose of the weez, at Yacht Fest @mnyachtclub in Minneapolis on 7/19, and Harrah’s @stircove in Council Bluffs, Iowa on 7/20! Weezer Fan Club members won chances to take pix from the photo pit for these shows, and their results (along with some “on stage” shots from our tour manager Thomas), are here for you now. Jaci Salley wfc#5276 got some 📸 at Yacht Fest, and Jared Bady wfc#7056 supplied the Cedar Rapids goods. Thanks to them, everyone who attended, all the local staff people, our fantastic crew, and YOU - all the fans! Everyone does the “fan thing” differently but you’re ALL appreciated for caring and coming out and doing whatever you do for the love of the =w= music and the good vibes it brings to all. It means everything to us, without a doubt. Next up: @bumbershoot in Seattle! #fanscorner #karlscorner

If you have anything to do with rock music, then you owe a lot to Ozzy, the Prince of Darkness. We say farewell now, but we know that he’s living on forever for all of us! @ozzyosbourne @blacksabbath #ozzysboneyard #karlscorner

7/10/25 Madrid, España, @madcoolfestival - tonight we played the final show of the Euro/UK summer tour, and the feelings are bittersweet all around - what a tour! On the one hand, things are going so great it seems a shame to stop now… On the other hand, everyone could use some downtime! But Madrid was a wonderful send off - warm people helping us, (very) warm air, and a huge loving audience bringing the heat that feeds the weez! THANK YOU to everyone - the fans, our stellar crew, the local staff everywhere, tourmates @deftones @badbadnerves @teen_mortgage , and YOU - everyone watching back home! …Of course, this isn’t “it”, not by a long shot! Coming up in just 2 days, the Rocking Thunder festival in Edmonton, Canada! See ya out there… #karlscorner

7/11/25 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our point man, our ace in the hole, our devastator, Scott Shriner!! Our killer crew came up with a surprise “SS711 undershirt mob” birthday ambush last night before the show, and Scott was well chuffed as they say! #scottscorner #weezercrew #karlscorner @sgs711

30 years ago, the Say It Aint So video was released, and the trilogy of singles from Blue was complete, with arguably the heaviest most emotional song on the album. The video was absolutely a return to the roots for weezer, after the amazing pop culture immersion of Spike Jonze’s Buddy Holly video. Sophie Muller was asked to make something that just felt like what the band was, a group of friends jamming it out, trying to make great songs. So it was back to ‘The Garage’, at 2226 Amherst Ave [demolished in 2024], where weezer started in March ‘92, and rehearsed and worked for the next year and a half, sweating it out amongst piles of gear, a working washer and dryer, and 50 square yards of old stinky used carpet that pretended to be soundproofing, but failed miserably. It was just as ineffective while shooting the video, as it turns out! The video was actually shot on 4/9/95, and here we see Karl’s shaky “b-roll” footage from that day, shot without any idea it would ever be seen again (it partially was, on 2004’s Video Capture Device DVD). Brian says “My mom still thinks I’m not shown enough in that video” Enjoy! #SayItAintSo #karlscorner

7/9/25 Barcelona, España, at the beloved Razzmatazz, we knew we were in for a magical night, as the setting was fairly intimate and we hadnt headlined in this town since 2002 - but we didnt know just HOW magical it was gonna be! Every single person sang along with every single word, the whole show! Our sound man Craig said there were times he could not even hear the PA because of how loud the crowd was. It was such a massive outpouring of love, and it all made for a night that no one will ever forget. Just prior to the doors opening, Rivers and Brian went out to the front of the line and did a short serenade of “Suzanne” for those who had waited the longest to get in. Later a massive mosh circle even opened up at one point, an extreme rarity for a weezer show. And we will never forget the entire place repeatedly singing the melody of Only In Dreams while waiting for the band to return for their encore. Amazing. Thanks to @badbadnerves for another awesome set, they’ve been a wonderful companion on this tour. Thank you to the staff of Razzmatazz! And thank you to our crew for dealing with all kinds of crazy logistical and technical issues day in and day out and doing it with a smile. Our crew is the best! One more Euro tour show to go! #karlscorner
