Documentary Australia and Doc Society are honoured to introduce our MCs, Yael Stone and Tishiko King, for the upcoming Climate Story Lab Australia – a 3-day gathering to workshop strategic climate storytelling taking place from 26-28 August on Gadigal lands, Sydney.

About Yael Stone
In January 2020, at the height of the Australian bushfires, internationally known actor Yael Stone (Orange Is The New Black) gave up her US Green Card to return home and focus on climate action. She went on to found Hi Neighbour, a community organisation supporting clean energy careers through local scholarships. Sharing awardees stories, @_hineighbour seeks to build social licence for an equitable energy transformation and the next generation of clean energy heroes.

Yael has shared her climate advocacy on platforms including Q+A, the BBC, CNN, The Guardian, SMH, Elle, and Vogue, and was recently profiled on ABC’s Australian Story alongside her partner Jack Manning Bancroft.

About Tishiko King
Tishiko King is a proud Kulkalaig woman from the Island of Masig and is an ocean and climate advocate. With studies in ocean science and lived experiences in the mineral and exploration industry, Tish works with grassroots organisations, including supporting the Our Islands Our Home campaign led by Torres Strait Island people, and plays a role in advocating for Torres Strait Island climate justice.

Tish is a member of the Australian Museum Climate Solutions Centre Advisory Group, a current Board Director for Divers for Climate, a current Global Director for AIME and a She Changes Climate Australian Ambassador. She also works with the philanthropic sector to redistribute wealth back into First Nations communities for economic justice and self-determination.

My dear and inspiring friend @tishfish__ shares her heart and her home in Malu Lag, Sea Country. Watch this short film, take your mind to the Torres Strait and breathe in the story of this powerful woman. It was so good to be able to celebrate you Tish - with so many good people who see you giving so fully.
