My best advice for a young homemaker would be to not compare yourself. Back in the day, it was easier because we didn’t have social media!

But it’s still important. If you compare yourself, you’ll always feel behind and then you won’t feel inspired in your home.

Feeling inspired in your own home is such a wonderful part of homemaking ❤️

This summer is filled with design books, creek days and growing a baby. With a house build very much underway, and baby girl due in September, life is pretty full. I’m glad our bedroom is a place we can relax and recharge. We love the crisp, cool percale sheets from @brooklinen, especially in the summertime. It’s fun to mix and match the colors. Best tip as a mom of 8 and a homemaker for over a decade…

Do what needs to be done before moving on to what you want to do!

This helps everything run smoothly, and makes the fun and creative stuff even more enjoyable 😍

When the to-do list seems impossible:

•Set overarching priorities and live within them

•Break down the priorities into tangible and achievable steps

•Be realistic with your energy levels and your season of life when figuring out what you can reasonably accomplish

Comment BLUEBERRY👇🏻🫐

Sourdough blueberry cobbler combines fresh or frozen blueberries with butter and a hint of sweetness, topped with sourdough biscuits and baked until golden brown. This irresistible dessert is a family favorite 😍

Early on in my homemaking journey, I used to get so frustrated with the repetitive nature of it all. Things would be cleaned, and then just need to be cleaned again.

I thought if I could just figure out the right system, everything would be clean all the time. I tried a cleaning schedule for a while, and it worked for a short bit. Long term, though, it wasn’t working with life.

Over time, I began to accept the repetitive nature of things.

It takes a daily pouring out of myself, and now I’m comfortable just cleaning something when I see it. It doesn’t completely overwhelm me. We live in our home! ❤️

In the summertime, I want to spend as much time as possible outside. But, we still have to eat! Here are some of my favorite ideas for when I don’t want to cook:

Roast in the instant pot- with veggies or in tacos. We usually have all the fixings for tacos on hand, so they’re easy to throw together.

Sheet pan dinners with whole chicken and veggies!

Continental lunch (like breakfast) or cold lunch or charcuterie style… this is one of our favorites in the summer!

Salad with leftover meat… we often do chicken.

What are some of your family’s favorites??

One of my favorite parts of homemaking is how it ebbs and flows with the seasons.

If you can learn to work with the seasons (cook in season, rest more in the winter, etc.) it will greatly benefit your homemaking! ❤️

If you’re overwhelmed…

Simplify, simplify, simplify!

The only way I cook from scratch is to keep meals simple. It’s fun every now and then to put some extra time into making a meal special, but to keep things running day to day, I have to keep it simple.

Meat, veggie, and carb! That’s it ❤️

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received as a homemaker is to start on dinner right after breakfast.

That way, no matter what happens during the day… if the toddler doesn’t nap or the baby is teething, for example, everyone will still be fed!
