#LolaTung thrives in the summer—but she’s looking ahead to what’s next.

As the star of #TheSummerITurnedPretty, the wildly popular TV show based on #JennyHan’s bestselling book series of the same name, she introduced the world to Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a teenager caught in a love triangle between two of her longtime family friends: Conrad and Jeremiah. The show shot to No. 1 on Prime Video when it premiered, skyrocketing Tung—in her first on-screen role—to It-girl status.

Now, as viewers lock in for #TSITP’s third and final season, Tung is saying a bittersweet goodbye to her breakout role and looking to the future. “I’ve loved getting to play [Belly] for so long. It’s the end of an era. After four unforgettable years, our August/September cover star @lola.tung is saying goodbye to The Summer I Turned Pretty - and yes, she cried. A lot.

‘It was very bittersweet. I cried. I cry at everything. I cry every year when we wrap, but this was an especially emotional cry… I was so grateful and so proud.’

But don’t panic: this is just the beginning. Next up? A starry horror movie and Hollywood at her fingertips.

#TSITP fans have already begun doing their love-triangle detective work, with everyone trying to figure out whether, in the end, Belly (played by @lola.tung) will choose Jeremiah or Conrad Fisher.

Tung obviously knows how things will play out, but she’s keeping her cards close to her chest. She didn’t even tell friend and “Forbidden Fruits” co-star @lilireinhart despite their closeness, a bond that both Tung and Reinhart say is strengthened by both gaining fame on a big YA series with a notable fanbase — and a love triangle.

“She didn't tell me. I was like, ‘I would've told you in a heartbeat, but okay,’” Reinhart says in Tung’s Teen Vogue cover interview, laughing. “I was poking fun at her. She was like, ‘I can't tell anyone.’ But we were talking about how nobody prepares you for this.”

Introducing Teen Vogue's latest cover star: Lola Tung. ✨

Though #TheSummerITurnedPretty is coming to an end, @lola.tung, who stars as Belly Conklin, is not slowing down. But figuring out your next steps isn’t so easy when everyone is watching.

“With that first season, I wanted so badly to prove that I could do it and make everybody happy and proud,” our July cover star tells Teen Vogue’s @aiyanaish in her cover interview.

Spoiler alert: The pressure hasn’t really eased up for Tung. But just like her character’s love triangle dilemma (which she also has thoughts about), she’s working through it, and feeling all the things in between.
