Meek Mill has been on fire.

We recently gave the rapper, who is now independent, verse of the year so far after his appearance on Fridayy’s “Proud of Me” and he headlined Roots Picnic in his hometown of Philadelphia for the first time.

We spoke to him shortly after that moment and he had a lot on his mind. He talked about Diddy and the rumors that have chased him over the years. But he also discussed this new independent path he’s on, his work with REFORM, and Trump pardoning YoungBoy Never Broke Again and the famed Gangster Disciples leader Larry Hoover.

“One day, if I ever meet Trump, I would like to bring him to a prison and teach him about Black culture, the things they saying he’s racist about, I would like to introduce him to that shit,” Meek told us.

We also spoke to rappers Black Thought, Skrilla, and G Herbo about his legacy. Herbo put it best when he told us: “He is still an MC at the end of the day, with real lyrics, and there’s never been a battle rapper that has had the success that Meek Mill has hit.”

@Meekmill went to prison for popping a wheelie.

His case exposed how Pennsylvania’s probation system punished people for technical violations, not new crimes. That injustice sparked the #FreeMeek movement, and helped launch REFORM Alliance.

Now, after 5 years of organizing and advocating, we can proudly say, Act 44 is law.

Here’s what changed:
✅ Limits on prison time for technical violations
✅ Meaningful pathways to early termination
✅ Incentives for education & job training
✅ Conditions that reflect real needs & risks

By 2030, this new law could impact 300,000 Pennsylvanians on probation.
