☘️I’ve got news! Turns out, I’ve indeed got Irish ancestors! 🇮🇪

Ok absolutely nobody is surprised, but I thought you might find it funny too, because since the beginning of my career I told people how that’s not the case, and in the end: YOU WERE RIGHT!

It‘s a revelation that’s got me thinking - it makes no difference anyways! Folk music isn’t about where you’re from, it’s about the stories we share and the melodies that resonate and bring us together as a community. 🎶 ❤️

I believe we should never gatekeep something that brings so much joy to us, so let’s keep the music ALIVE for everyone!

Bordunmusik

Es hat sich eine Menge getan in der Bordunszene, seit der Genfer Musiker René Zosso sich in den Sechzigern und Siebzigern mit den klanglichen Möglichkeiten der Drehleier auseinandersetzte und das Instrument einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit bekannt machte. Musikschaffende wie Gilles Chabenat oder Valentin Clastrier bereiteten das Feld und weckten die Leier aus ihrem Dornröschenschlaf, während Instrumentenbauer wie der Frankfurter Kurt Reichmann oder der Franzose Jean-Claude Boudet die alten Bautechniken studierten und weiterentwickelten, meist in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Spielenden, die ihre Anforderungen an moderne Instrumente formulierten. Nicht nur die Drehleier, auch der Dudelsack und die schwedische Nyckelharpa erlebten in Europa eine Renaissance und sind heute nicht nur im Folk, sondern auch in Rock, Jazz oder gar im Pop zu finden. Der folker wagt Einblicke in die faszinierende Welt des Dauertons.

A little piece of earth

How peaceful is the human
who lives within the garden,
weaving onto a little piece of earth
that you, gods, give to them.

Warming in the early hours,
the tired dog is tightly
placed in their arms.
Caring by night and day.

But today I ask myself
what goal do they strive for?
They constantly experience
how the earth goes on turning

Seal three things:
Home, dog and garden are there
and from there, they see
which way the wind is blowing today.
