The Roots at Gent Jazz 2025 was pure hip hop history captured in these live music photos.

No intro needed. Just presence. Just sound. Just impact. A band that doesn’t just play, they carve. They cut. They claim the stage like it’s always been theirs.

From the first snare to the final breath, everything was locked in. The kind of show that doesn’t rise with hype but with history. You don’t watch The Roots. You listen with your chest.

What makes a hip hop show legendary? It’s when Black Thought commands the mic with that signature clarity, bars that don’t age, a voice that doesn’t flinch. Underneath it all: the tightest live band in hip hop still setting the standard.

I was in the pit with a camera, sure. But mostly I was just lucky to witness it.
