I feel so privileged that the first president I can deeply remember is Jimmy Carter.

He is my personal hero, as was he my grandma Mary’s, and she had the best taste. He was a true climate president, a deep empath, an actual negotiator for peace, the ultimate protector of human rights and the right to vote, and an advocate for good. President Carter was a truly kind man. I felt honored to know him personally and honored to get to call him my president.

Your light will forever shine, sir. But boy, will you be missed.

Dern Over A New Leaf.

Laura Dern x Flamingo Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil launches today. ALL PROCEEDS from these bottle will go to the Center for Food Safety and their ongoing legal work to ban toxic pesticides in our food. This Oil was harvested only a couple of weeks ago. It has a remarkable peppery punch, and a vibrant grassy flavor.

This Limited-Edition harvest is made from Nocellara del Belice Olives — incredibly high in polyphenols, which give it an excellent aftertaste. The trees that produced this Oil are approximately 30 years old — all clones of 300-year-old trees. They’re a rare Sicilian varietal, brought to California in the 1990s. The cuttings were taken from the most attractive and productive trees found in a centuries-old grove in Sicily.
